Wannabe Governors' Ads

I really like this commercial because it is positive. I react better to positive ads because I already know the issues so I want the candidates to tell me how they plan on changing them. Jerry's campaign ad says what Jerry Brown's track record was when he was governor and then saying that he can restore California to the state that he originally created. In the video there are clips of people working and moving forward.

I can't stand this commercial. Meg Whitman is over simplifying and lying about Oakland's education and crime issues. I'm not from Oakland, but I lived in Oakland and worked for a non-profit organization that dealt with Oakland's education issues and it isn't as simple as "Jerry Brown failed the schools". Also if I remember correctly Oakland's crime rate went down until his last year, then they went up, but that was because of the newly released parolees. Oakland is a reflection of the American economy like Detroit or Ohio not Jerry Brown. The commercial is relying on people's preconceived notions about Oakland, poverty, and various peoples of color and not about Meg Whitman's campaign. It was probably effective for people who fear/have negative feelings toward Oakland and places like Oakland.
